Abstract

This paper discusses the urban expansion of the city of Araguaína (TO), through the construction of the BR-153 highway, highlighting the environmental impacts resulting from deforestation. In the implementation of this important connection route in the territory of Tocantins, there was a significant population increase, due to the large number of employment workers and better living conditions. The expansion of Araguaína is largely due to the BR-153, which made it possible to move people and cargo, leveraging trade. The discussion mainly about the environmental impacts imposed on birds of prey/predators, through the loss of their territories for the implementation of residential subdivisions is the focus of this work, presents a problematization of awareness of the importance of the "food chain" for the balance of a ecosystem, focusing on these birds as part of the top of this chain. The work also demonstrates the vulnerability of these birds to the numerous changes in their habitat and the adaptations of predators in the urban area of Araguaína, where the urbanization of some of the birds monitored during the surveys was detected through fieldwork, which provided support for it was possible to develop the present study.
