Abstract

This academic review presents the book written by Spencer Chainey titled "UNDERSTANDING CRIME ANALYZING THE GEOGRAPHY OF CRIME." Chainey can be considered an expert in research related to the Geography of Crime. His work extends beyond borders, with projects in countries on nearly every continent in the world. In his book, the author aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the Geography of Crime, covering theoretical and conceptual aspects of the field's formation, spatial and temporal analyses of crime, and, finally, the development of risk maps and the assessment of geographically targeted interventions. With a didactic structure and numerous practical examples, it is capable of promoting a better understanding of dense and extensive content without being shallow or overly hurried in presenting the material.
