Abstract

The (auto)biographical method is a valuable tool for research and education, allowing individuals to reveal their life trajectories, learnings, and promoting (self)reflection and transformation. This article aimed to explore the (auto)biographical method, its composition, and its contribution to those who use it. Utilizing bibliographic research, the work systematized ideas from theorists in the field, presenting the potentialities and challenges of the method in the humanities and social sciences, as well as in the field of Education. The review demonstrated that the method is self-formative, relevant for acquiring competencies and skills. It can be concluded that, beyond being a research tool, the (auto)biographical method is an instrument for knowledge formation that deepens the understanding of personal development.

Author Biographies

Jorge Balzan, Federal University of Paraná

PhD student in Information Management from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Master's degree in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Specialization in Teleinformatics and Computer Networks (IFPR), Graduate in Systems Analysis (UCPEL). With experience in the area of ​​Technology, IT Governance, Administration and Educational Management.

José Simão de Paula Pinto, Federal University of Paraná

Graduated in systems analysis, administration and electrical engineering, he is a specialist in networks and distributed systems, has a master's degree in information technology and a doctorate in medicine, with a focus on information technology applied to teaching and research in surgery. He worked in the private sector as an electronics technician, programmer, systems and support analyst, DBA, maintenance manager and teleprocessing manager. He was managing partner in two companies (electronic maintenance and medical IT). Concentrates experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of digital equipment, process modeling, IT planning and management, database administration and project management. He collaborates as an INEP evaluator (IT profile), has already prepared items for BNI-ENADE and acted as a certifier for ENEM. He is a full professor at UFPR, where he was director of the Electronic Computing Center and coordinator of the Postgraduate Course in Science, Management and Information Technology, and currently teaches and researches topics focused on science and information management, information technologies, information management projects and technologies as a vector of strategic management. Coordinates the research group on technologies and methodologies for information and knowledge management, registered with CNPq and certified at the institution. Conducts research in: internet of things (IoT) and its variants; data administration and analysis; privacy, LGPD and ethical issues; medical informatics, cognitive systems and brain-computer communication (BCI/BMI). Coordinates an extension project in applied IT and Arduino and MIT Inventor programming for children and young people, aligned with the new BNCC for computational thinking in elementary school.

Daniel Markowicz, Santa Cruz de Curitiba University Center

PhD and Master in Education in the Public Policies and Education Management Research Line at the Tuiuti University of Paraná. He has a degree in Social Studies/History from Faculdades Integradas Espírita (1999), a master's degree in Education from Universidade Tuiuti do Paraná (2010) and a PhD in DOCTORATE IN EDUCATION from Universidade Tuiuti do Paraná (2019). He works in the field of Educational Science, especially in the area of ​​Human Sciences. He is a certified professor in the State of Paraná and is Director of the Colégio Estadual Anita Canet de Fazenda Rio Grande. In higher education, he is a Professor of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses at Centro Universitário Santa Cruz de Curitiba. He has extensive experience in Public Educational Administration and worked as an advisor in the preparation of the Municipal Education Plans for Fazenda Rio Grande and Lapa in Paraná.

Rosane Balsan, Federal University of Tocantins

Graduated in Geography from the Federal University of Pelotas (1997), master's degree in Geography from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2001) and PhD in Geography from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2005). Created and coordinated the Casino's Third Age Extension Program at the Federal University of Rio Grande Foundation (2007). He has experience in the area of ​​Geography, with an emphasis on Human Geography, working mainly on the following topics: Tourism Geography, Cultural Heritage and Regional Geography. She is currently an associate professor, level 4, at the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT), Porto Nacional Campus and also coordinated and participated in Projects Funded by the MEC - ProExt 2009, ProExt 2010, ProExt 2011, ProExt 2015 (in the thematic line of Preservation of Cultural Heritage Completed the post-doctoral internship in the project "The feast of the novenas of Nossa Senhora das Mercês de Porto Nacional: intangible heritage of the state of Tocantins", at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF - 2016). Coordinator of the Studies Center Urban and Cities - NEUCIDADES and responsible for the Geo-Touristic Route Project of Porto Nacional-TO. Participates in the Networks: Pan-Amazon Tourism, Heritage and Public Policy Researchers Network (TPP PAN-AMAZÔNIA) - UFPA and International Network of Critical Studies of Tourism, Territory and Self-Determination - REESCRITA and the Research Group Paisagem Cutura e Território. Member of the Advisory Board of the Brazilian Ecotourism Magazine.
