Abstract

This academic review is the presentation of the book written by Alexander B. Murphy called “Geografía: ¿Por qué importa?”. Murphy is a researcher responsible for several articles and books on subjects related to geography. Throughout his book, the author sought to promote a reflection on how Geography is an important tool for understanding the contemporary world. With its writing full of examples, it is an interesting book for scholars in the field of Geosciences, as well as for others interested in better understanding reality, through the geographic view.

Author Biography

Francisco Carlos Moreira Gomes, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro

Bachelor in Geography (2018), Degree in Geography (2022) and Master in Geography (2021) from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. He is currently a doctoral student in Geography at the Graduate Program in Geography at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (PPGG), working at GeoCart - Cartography Laboratory.
