Abstract

This article aims to understand the relationship between landscape and memory from the perception of residents, considering the importance of recognizing the values ​​of their cultural heritage represented here by their spatial symbolic forms. Despite not being prominent in terms of official status, the cultural landscapes of the municipality of Itapiúna bring in their materiality the symbolic dimensions that reflect the customs, traditions, history and culture of its residents. For the analysis of reality, we searched for a prospect that consisted of making photographic records and conducting interviews with residents in order to understand the perception between landscape and heritage. From the analysis of the results, we can assess how its residents experience this landscape in a context of memory and sociability practices.

Natárcia Martins de Sousa, Ceara state University

Graduated in Degree in Geography from the State University of Ceará-Uece (2017), Specialist in Geography: environmental education (2018) and Physical and population geography (2020). She is currently a Geography teacher in the municipality of Itapipoca-Ceará.

Otávio José lemos Costa, Ceara State University

Post-Doctorate at the State University of Rio de Janeiro. Doctor in Geography at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ. Master in Geography from the State University of Ceará - UECE. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the State University of Ceará, teaching in the undergraduate course and in the Graduate Program in Geography at UECE. Coordinator of the Laboratory for Studies in Cultural Geography - LEGEC. He develops research in the area of Cultural Geography, specifically focused on the themes: Space, culture and heritage, vernacular landscape, Geography and Cinema. Member of the Research Group on Parties, Identities and Territorialities -UFRN. Member of the Study and Research Group on Cities at the Universidade Vale do Acaraú. Member of the Observatory of Parimonial Landscapes and Latin American Arts (OPPALA)
