Abstract

Gender and sexuality relations have been a subject in evidence in Brazilian television fiction. This work aims to investigate the processes of representation of these relations in the national fiction series, from the central characters of the series Feras (‘Wilds’, 2019), produced by Brazilian MTV. For this, Hall's (1997) concept of representation and Butler's (2003) gender studies are used, based on a qualitative and bibliographical methodology, analyzing some scenes in a descriptive and theoretical-interpretative way. Among the results, it was found that the series invites the public to urgent reflections and debates, provoking them to rethink their concepts and preconceptions, to observe reality from other angles, to understand that diversity must be respected. The relevance of this study, in summary, can be seen in the broadening of discussions on gender studies directed at Brazilian television, and in the deepening of a work that promotes social impact, especially due to the preference for themes considered taboo.
