O QUE É ISSO, COMPANHEIRO?

Abstract

 This article proposes a reflection on the relationship between Brazilian literature and the military regime, considering that literary production became an important means of denunciation and critical interpretation of events that were silenced and reshaped by the official discourse during the dictatorship. For this analysis, the work O que é isso, companheiro? (1996), by Fernando Gabeira, was selected—an autobiography that recounts the narrator’s trajectory as a militant in the armed struggle, his participation in the kidnapping of the North American ambassador, his imprisonment, torture, and subsequent exile. The theoretical framework is grounded in tensive grammar and the concepts of event and exercise (Zilberberg, 2007), as well as the notion of field of presence (Fontanille; Zilberberg, 2001). The analysis examines how objects enter the field of presence of the narrated subject and transform his life, since tensive grammar allows for the identification of how the text mobilizes different regimes of sensibility, revealing affective oscillations that shape the subject’s understanding of the experienced events.
