Abstract

This work aims to analyze the process of construction and consolidation of the First Baptist Church of Barra do Piraí (PIBBP), in the city of Barra do Piraí-RJ, between 1915 and 1917. For this, firstly, we analyze the arrival process of the first American Protestant immigrants and missionaries to Brazil and the foundation of colonies and churches throughout Brazil. In a second moment, we analyze the same Protestant missionary process, in particular, Baptist within the city of Rio de Janeiro, with the foundation of the First Baptist Church of Rio de Janeiro (PIBRJ), and the growth of faith in neighboring regions. Finally, a case study on the construction of a Baptist sacred space in the city of Barra do Piraí-RJ, through the foundation of the First Baptist Church of Barra do Piraí (PIBBP).
