Abstract

This paper aims to describe the growth of livestock in Araguaína based on the quantity of cattle and land cancentration. He sought to understand the livestock expansion in this municipality in the context of the agricultural frontier, under the domain of the performance of the state and national private capital. The data show that Araguaína becomes a major producer of cattle from the 1980s, when the amount of heads exceeds four hundred thousand, parallel to this was the intensification of land co ncentration.

possui graduação (Bacharelado) em Geografia pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (1996), Especialização em gestão territorial pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (1997), graduação (Licenciatura) em Geografia pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (2001), Mestrado em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2003). Doutorado em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (2013), com Estágio Doutoral na Universidade de Lisboa, sob a orientação da Profa. Dra. Eduarda Marques da Costa. Atualmente é professor adjunto A, da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. Tem experiência na área de Geografia, com ênfase em Geografia Urbana e Geografia Política. Atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: espaço urbano, contradições urbanas, segregação espacial, paisagem, direito à moradia, renda da terra e ocupação urbana. Territórios e territorialidades. Relações de poder, dentre outras temáticas.

He is a member of the research group Geographic Studies of the Amazon and Tocantins - GEGATO and a participant in Redes e Produção do Território (GéTER). He has dedicated his professional attention to the study and research of the following themes: regional geography, urban network, spatial practice, urban insecurity, medium and small cities.

João Manoel de Vasconcelos Filho, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte

Graduated (Bachelor's Degree) in Geography from the Federal University of Paraíba (1996), Specialization in Territorial Management from the Federal University of Paraíba (1997), Bachelor's Degree in Geography from the Federal University of Paraíba (2001), Master's Degree in Geography from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2003). PhD in Geography from the Federal University of Uberlândia (2013), with a Doctoral Internship at the University of Lisbon, under the supervision of Profa. Dr. Eduarda Marques da Costa. He is currently adjunct professor A, at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. He has experience in the field of Geography, with an emphasis on Urban Geography and Political Geography. Acting mainly on the following themes: urban space, urban contradictions, spatial segregation, landscape, housing rights, land income and urban occupation. Territories and territorialities. Power relations, among other themes.
